The power of in-app purchases

I love in-app purchases. I love a business model which doesn’t cap the revenues you can earn from your biggest fans at $0.99 (like the traditional Lite+Premium model on iPhone).

Noel Llopsis also loves In-App purchases. He runs Snappy Touch, publishes a game called Flower Garden and blogs openly about its ups and downs. He recently gave a talk called The Power of In-App Purchases at 360iDev and has just posted the slides on Slideshare.

To me that chart shows that Flower Garden is a vastly more successful title based on having IAP than without. Given recent data that while only 1.3% of free apps have IAP, they make up 33% of the 100 top grossing apps on the iPhone, I’m not surprised.

I’m just glad that Noel is prepared to share his insights in the presentation below.
