Want to play indie games for the PC – direct from the developer?

By on November 29, 2010

Cliff Harris of Gratuitous Space Battles fame has a vision.

A vision for an indie portal. But having seen many such initiatives sputter out after a wave of enthusiasm “devolves into a sort of kibbutz-style hippie-love-in where no decisions ever get made”, he decided that what was needed was an egotistical dictator to launch it.

So he volunteered for the job.

Check out www.showmethegames.com. It’s got well-known games like World of Goo, AaaaaAAaaaAAAaaAAAAaAAAAA!!! and Defcon as well as over a dozen other high-quality, indie strategy games.

The marketer in me sees lots of missed opportunities for retention, conversion and building long-term relationships with indie fans, but I love the idea.

And as a PC strategy gamer, I can imagine spending quite a lot of time and money here.

So if you like PC games (or have a PC game you want to distribute, provided you get through Cliff’s self-proclaimed dictatorship), you should check it out.
